About Dave Madsen

I am Department Head of the Dept. of Mass Communication at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, in my 12th year here. I came to academia after 30+ years working in commercial television in Sioux City, most recently as Station Manager at KTIV-TV, the NBC station.

At Morningside, I teach Intro to Mass Comm, Public Relations, Media Management, Senior Capstone Seminar and Video Production Practicum. My Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Journalism/Mass Communication are both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

My wife, Mary, is a retired high school math teacher, and we have two adult children and a dog, Taj.
